Great review, wonder if Usopp will pick up on wanos craftsmanship and learn how to make bullets made out of seastone for his slingshot. Although it would make him quite OP but he needs to given the fact what they are up against. If Ussop learn somthing like that, then the rest of Straw hats will have a crazy power ups, expecting gear 5 possibly even 6 or awakening for luffy.
Here’s what I got. 2 of the things that i’ve been speculating are at play now. The multiple parts (they’re being referred to as Acts) and possibly Zoro leading a narrative.
It’s either gonna be 3 Acts or 5. I think it will be 5. Many overlooked the obvious foreshadowing. From when the crew talked about Wano before PH started to Kinemon, Kanjuro and Raizo’s appearance, personalities and abilities. It’s definitely like a Kabuki stage play.
In some Japanese theatre, there’s the Jo-ha-kyu concept. Jo is to move slowly and take time to introduce the first part. Ha is to increase in pace and move more quicker. Kyu is to end it quickly. So in Jo, we were introduced to Wano and established the conflicts.
Jo – Act 1 – Intro and Conflicts building slowly
Oppression – People view Oden as bad and people outside of the Capital get the poisonous food.
Low on military might – Luffy’s in captivity, every ally isn’t gathered, crew is separated, they’re outnumbered and outmatched.
Ha – Act 2, 3, and 4 – Zoro grows as 1st mate and swordsman + Team Zoro vs Shogun and his Militia. Expecting this to be Act 2 (fast, a lot of info spills like Zou), Act 3 (little slower, but still fast, expecting this to be the most dramatic), Act 4 (back to Act 2’s pace)
I think in Ha, we’ll get 3 parts and this will be a Zoro heavy driven narrative. In WCI arc, we got a Sanji driven narrative, but Luffy was so endemic in the story. I think Zoro will be different than Sanji tho. Especially with Luffy captured. As Sanji and his fam’s narrative went in and out with Luffy and the crew’s narrative in WCI, I think Zoro’s narrative will take over way more than Luffy and Kidd’s narrative. To add to that, I think as Luffy and Kidd get used to each other, I think Killer and Zoro will as well. I think Oda might contrast how Killer is more of a “second in command” than Zoro has been. Killer has gone as far to establish Alliances and be apart of the Underworld on Kidd’s behalf. Kidd is a true lieutenant/first mate/second in command as Zoro has just been the backbone of the crew and to those who don’t see or appreciate the in depth storytelling here, “he’s just a strong swordsman”. This will allow Zoro’s dynamic in the crew to shine more/progress and his swordsmanship to progress as well.
Kyu – Act 5 – On to Kaido
I’m not too sure of all of the possibilities for this. It can be an escape before a war or the actual gathering of everyone against Kaido. Or it can be something totally different.
It my opinion, this arc can be a way better version of W7/EL. That is the best, put together, arc to me so far. In there, we got Robin’s taken, Merry is done/Usopp gone, Franky/Iceberg backstory, and CP9’s undercover agenda. Then we had the train clashes over water. Finished everything on Ennies Lobby.
I think Hawkins still can be playing againts Kaido. One way to interpret his act is that at least he saved one of two possible allies: Law, given that it was impossible to save Luffy. I’d say Law’s try could migth fail and likely he knew it in advance (because of his foretelling power). That’s because that would provide some ground to understand why Law is free now, given that he was alread defeated when Hawking grabbed him with his swords and after the seastone nail. And also, that would be consistent with the fact that he avoided to tell Kaido that Luffy was in wano when they both met for the first time. Just a possibility
Now let me ask you: have those funny ‘ha’ faces of Robin and co some reference to some kind of Japanese art? They are very expressive…
I have my doubts about Hawkings, if maybe he’ll be a future ally or a future enemy, the same for Drake, due Kaido’s conviction in “recruit” successfully Luffy and Kid!! And, where is Apoo?? Playing a song somewhere??
face faults like that are a staple of mad magazine, which Oda was a big fan of, thats my best guess, he definitely has a hybrid of that style and classic manga
Holy SHIT this chapter!! I did not expect the Kabuki format to continue in this way (thought the opening was just the format for the intro to Wano) and I love it. Gotta love Oda’s shock faces. I would say, shockingly, that it is not Usopp that wins this round for most ridiculous face–Robin!
Exactly as Alejandro Gordillo said. Look at the two guys that report to Hawkins that Law escaped. No tension, no disppointment. They’re smiling ! And if you notice there are air bubbles before them, like they were saying “he!” as in a smirk laughter.
I think it is Killer. He is the only Supernova missing in the current story and maybe is the only other crew member from Kid’s crew that survived against Kaido.
As always amazing review!!!
Anyway little fact Shinobu’s fruit is an opposite of Ain’s fruit from film Z, even its name is modo-modo no me/return-return fruit. It has effect to make something younger.
And as I studying geology now, I feel amazed with Oda’s theory of how pyrobloin formed, even I think its true lol
Well it stays resting up like that, in the next panel implying its leaning against a bar, plus you’d figure they wouldn’t want to put them in the same cell
Just randomly stumbled upon this review… Really good to read. I often read chapters quickly and miss a lot of little details. Looking forward to reading more of your chapter secrets..
I have a theory. Big mom will show up. Luffy will beat Big Mom. Zoro will beat kaido. And the attack on reverie failed because of Shanks tipping the Goroei, confirmed by black beard who infiltrated their base.
Wanna share something. Luffy thinks he can deal with any problem as long as he can beat it up. Luffy will go up against Kaido on 1vs1 again, cannot wait for that.
there are three possible options that Oda might go with.
1- A power up that allows Luffy not get defeated by Kaido with ease. This kind of power up will be like an awakening of conqueror haki. It allows luffy to have an imaginable defense like Big Mom. It also explain why some people are Super strong, Forget ABOUT gear 5 or devil fruit awakening. that wont do a thing to this THING (KAIDO).
2- Luffy gets a power up called “common sense”, no joke, he will use it in two different ways. first to follow Law´s plan to bring down this freak of nature, Kaido. second, take his crew and leaves Wano. which is unlikely to happen knowing Luffy.
3- Despair , imagine Sabaody+Marinford when luffy lost Ace. This time will be much worse. Luffy will learn there are some problems that cannot be dealt with no matter how much he beats it up. “An ARC cut. that make Marinford look”.
lets see where ODA take us.

I fear for the Straw hats.
Thanks!
So, I would like to add a little crazy and underdeveloped theory.
At the end of Dressrosa Arc, we see Kaidou screaming for the big war that Joker was about to bring (that new wave Bellamy refers), We have in other moments references that the One Piece would bring this war, but there is no real affirmative that the treasure is Gold, it´s mostly assumed only (by the pirates).
That said, we´ve already seen Luffy´s power to have unnusual allies, enemies that after that are “persuaded” by Luffy´s will and charisma.
Now, we all know that Luffy requires a reason to fight with his heart (I don´t think he believed that Kaidou would be defeated by that geart third punch, by this time he already know the power of the real strong guys).
So, Reverie is happening, we have the Mary Geoise mystery guy… well… what if, Luffy has a reason so strong to fight a war again, that kaidou decides to fight the war too (as it is something he wants, maybe to try to die again ou just to feel something)…
Luffy will awaken his conquerors haki to its next level. In Marinford he unleashed just a glims of that and EVERYONE was shocked. we know so far that conquerors haki is the least useful ability among all three types of haki (conquerors haki knocks out people with weak will, those people kan be one shoted even by Ussop). Then why Kizaru said that there is a deep scary power hidden within Luffy? why Sengoku ordered to kill him right away? why Whitebeard told his sabordinates to back Luffy up? Just because Luffy kan knock out a handful of people cant be considered scary for someone like Kizaru.
The reason is that there is more to conquerors haki then we know and that is why everone acted the way they did. If Luffy awakens this ability and he will (in Wano) then he might have a solid chans in defeating kaido. My reason behind this theory is because of chapter 924. Kaido wants to break Luffys will and like they say “whatever dosent kill me makes me only stronger”. Luffy answered Kaido by unleashing conquerors haki while being out cold ( you will fail in breaking my will). 100 % sure that like Marinford will be a moment for Luffy to awaken this ability and shock everyone.
Everyone: nanda!………………………………….Mugiwara?
Kaido: that BRAT!
Great analysis Artur, I hope you feel better soon!
